Baseball Recap: Ventura Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Ventura was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Oxnard Yellowjackets by a score of 10-6. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Carter Kimble, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Wylan Nelson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Ventura was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.

Ventura pushed their record up to 13-6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Oxnard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ventura will venture away from home to face off against St. Bonaventure at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oxnard, they will head out to square off against Village Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
