Volleyball Recap: Platte County Pirates vs. Belton Pirates

After flying high against Truman on Wednesday, Platte County came back down to earth. Platte County lost 3-0 to Belton on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Belton this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

While Platte County ultimately came up short, they really made Belton work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-19, 25-22.

Carissa Bacon paced Platte County's offense, picking up nine kills. Bacon got some help from Ella Cruce and her 14 assists. Cruce was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Belton found their leader in sophomore Maddie Asaeli, who had 21 assists and eight digs. Those 21 assists set a new season-high mark for Asaeli.

With the defeat, Platte County broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 14-9-2. As for Belton, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5.
