Basketball Recap: Heath Comes Up Short

Heath lost against Amanda-Clearcreek back in November of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Heath Bulldogs were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to the Amanda-Clearcreek Aces. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 535th, while the Aces are ranked 81st).

Despite the loss, Heath still got an impressive performance from Peyton Del Cecato, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Del Cecato also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Kayla Haynes was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Heath has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Amanda-Clearcreek, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3.

Heath wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-50 loss against Northridge on the 15th. As for Amanda-Clearcreek, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fairfield Union at 7:00 p.m. Fairfield Union will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Amanda-Clearcreek surely won't give up without a fight.
