Baseball Recap: Mount St. Mary Beats Sulphur for Their Fourth Straight Win

Mount St. Mary had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Sulphur Bulldogs as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Will Grayson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Harry Tesio was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-2. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Wade Webb was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Mount St. Mary was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sulphur only posted a batting average of .250.

Mount St. Mary's record is now 17-7. As for Sulphur, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Mount St. Mary will face off against Douglass at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rockets are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Sulphur, they will venture away from home to face off against Tushka at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
