Basketball Recap: Metro Academy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Metro Academy lost to St. Louis Christian HomeSchool K back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Metro Academy Mavericks took down the St. Louis Christian HomeSchool K Knights 68-49. Given the Mavericks' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 72nd in Kansas, while the Knights are ranked 277th in Missouri), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, St. Louis Christian HomeSchool K still got an impressive performance from Dylan Key, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points. Key is becoming a predictor of St. Louis Christian HomeSchool K's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 5-1 (and 13-15 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Nathan Reed, who posted 18 points.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Metro Academy, bringing their record for this year to 19-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for St. Louis Christian HomeSchool K, their loss dropped their record down to 18-16.

Coming up, Metro Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mid-Missouri HomeSchool at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mid-Missouri HomeSchool will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Metro Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Louis Christian HomeSchool K, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Lighthouse Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Louis Christian HomeSchool K is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.
