Greene County had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the East Central Hornets by a score of 34-27. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Wildcats were the better team in the second half.

Greene County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gage Stinson out in front who threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Jase Mathews was Stinson's top target, picking up 87 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 57 yards.

East Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Maddox Dunn, who rushed for 131 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries, and Adrian Marsalis, who rushed for 124 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries.

Coming up, Greene County will take on Perry Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Central, they will challenge St. Martin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
