Softball Game Preview: Roseburg Indians vs. Jesuit Crusaders

The Roseburg Indians will venture away from home to challenge the Jesuit Crusaders on Friday. Roseburg will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Roseburg is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Forest Grove, who was ranked 20th at the time (Roseburg was ranked 17th). The Indians came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday.

Cambria Bachmeier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joelle Mattox was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cadence Ellenwood, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Jesuit had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against Aloha on Wednesday by a score of 11-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Crusaders have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jesuit has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Roseburg, they pushed their record up to 22-7 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.
