Basketball Game Preview: Triton Hawks vs. Westover Wolverines

Triton is 1-7 against Westover since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Triton Hawks just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Westover Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Triton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Westover likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, Triton humbled Smithfield-Selma with a 73-34 victory. With the Hawks ahead 38-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Triton relied on the efforts of Ro'Mello Pegues, who posted 18 points, and Jamaury Taylor, who put up 15 points. The game was Pegues' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Demarbiaz Devane was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Westover, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took down Harnett Central 70-53 on Tuesday.

Triton's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Westover, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Triton might still be hurting after the 73-50 loss they got from Westover when the teams last played back in February. Can Triton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
