Baseball Recap: Wickenburg Comes Up Short

Wickenburg lost against Bagdad back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wranglers fell just short of the Sultans by a score of 4-3. The Wranglers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wickenburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hazen Jones, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Jones is becoming a predictor of the Wranglers' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

Wickenburg now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Bagdad, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1.

Coming up, Wickenburg will face off against North Valley Christian Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bagdad, they will take on Desert Heights Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Sultans have won five straight at home, while the Yote won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
