Heritage hasn't had much luck against Gloucester recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hurricanes will square off against the Dukes at 4:30 p.m. Heritage has given up an average of 16.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Heritage is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 21st straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 17-2 to Bethel.
Heritage saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robert Drumgoole, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Donnell King Jr was another, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Gloucester had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Dukes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Manor's batters probably weren't too happy with Brayden Scott, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up zero walks). Scott has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hank Hardaway was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Landon Morris also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Gloucester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Gloucester's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
Heritage might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Gloucester when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Hurricanes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
