Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Christian Academy's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Jacksonville Christian Academy had lost four straight headed into Thursday's match, but CJ Mendoza didn't let it get to five. The Jacksonville Christian Academy Conquerors walked away with a 56-43 victory over the Jones Trojans on Thursday thanks in part to Mendoza, who went 10 of 16 en route to 24 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Evans, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played.

Jacksonville Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Jones, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Jacksonville Christian Academy will venture away from home to challenge Bethel Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Jones, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northside - Pinetown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northside - Pinetown will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Jones surely won't give up without a fight.
