Kate Duncan Smith DAR gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Scottsboro Wildcats. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kate Duncan Smith DAR easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16.

Emma Guffey paced Kate Duncan Smith DAR's offense, picking up 11 kills. Guffey got some help from Gillian Head and her 16 assists. Guffey also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ava Turley, racking up two apiece.
