League recap: Juarez dominating on the mound for Temple City

Rio Hondo league recap: 4/3/13

Gabriel Juarez was the best pitcher in Rio Hondo this week, leading Temple City. He won one game and struck out 13 batters.

La Canada outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its three total wins led the league. The Spartans beat San Marino 7-6 and West 8-2.

Monrovia's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only two hits and four walks, both of which led the league.

The Rams stole 18 bases this week, adding to their league-leading 28 steals on the year.

There were four hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Nick Carino, who collected four hits in six at bats for a .667 average.

Nick Carino's five RBIs this week were tops in the league. Carino has eight RBIs this season, fourth in the league.



Monrovia's Chris Burkholder threw seven shutout innings in a 2-0 win over Temple City on Thursday. He struck out seven, allowing two hits.

Carino was an RBI machine on Saturday, as he knocked in four runs during the Wildcats' 6-0 win over Moreno Valley. He went 3-for-4 and scored one run.
