Soccer Game Preview: Aquinas vs. Canyon Springs

The Aquinas Falcons and the Canyon Springs Cougars will round out the year against one another at at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Aquinas headed into their last contest having not scored more than one goal for five straight, but Xavier Prep let them put that streak behind them. Aquinas never let Xavier Prep onto the board and left with a 4-0 win last Friday. The score was close at the half, but the Falcons pulled away in the second half with three goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon Springs). They put the hurt on Rancho Christian with a sharp 9-0 victory on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Canyon Springs is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four contests. As for Aquinas, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 1-4-1 record.
