Baseball Game Preview: Bingham Miners vs. Riverton Silverwolves

Bingham is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Riverton Silverwolves at 3:30 p.m. Bingham's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Riverton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Bingham is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: El Dorado, who was ranked 15th in their home state at the time (Bingham was ranked eighth). The Miners came up short against the Golden Hawks on Thursday, falling 13-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Miners have suffered since May 6, 2024.

Meanwhile, Riverton posted their closest victory since March 11th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over American Fork. The Silverwolves haven't had any issues with the Cavemen recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Bryce Mounteer, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of McKade Ortiz, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Bingham's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Riverton, their win bumped their record up to an identical 7-3.

Bingham couldn't quite get it done against Riverton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Miners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
