Preview: Alcoa Tornadoes vs. Maryville Red Rebels
Alcoa has been on the road for five straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. The Alcoa Tornadoes and the Maryville Red Rebels will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Alcoa has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 687 points over their last ten matches.
Alcoa pushed their score all the way to 62 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of A.C. Reynolds. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Alcoa came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 117th in Tennessee, while A.C. Reynolds is ranked 238th in North Carolina).
Meanwhile, Maryville unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 66-57 to Fulton. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Alcoa's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Maryville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-1.
Alcoa came out on top in a nail-biter against Maryville in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 54-51. Will Alcoa repeat their success, or does Maryville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
