Basketball Preview: Georgetown Bulldogs vs. Aynor Blue Jackets
The Georgetown Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Aynor Blue Jackets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Georgetown has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
Last Friday, Georgetown was beaten by the Lions 67-11. Georgetown has struggled against the Lions recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Aynor came up short against the Warriors on Friday and fell 40-30.
Despite the defeat, Aynor saw an underclassman step up: Terianna Richardson scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Richardson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Lainey Squires was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Georgetown's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-20. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for Aynor, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.
Georgetown might still be hurting after the 44-23 loss they got from the Blue Jackets in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Squires, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Now that Georgetown knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
