Softball Recap: General Brown Comes Up Short

General Brown dropped their record down to 3-2 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 15-0 to the Jackson Ironman/Ironladies. The match marked the first time this season in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

As for Jackson, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Jackson's part, Serenity Taylor tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Taylor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jackson let Izzy Swisher and Aaliyah Barnett run wild. Swisher went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Barnett went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave Barnett a new career-high. Daycee Howard also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. General Brown will take on South Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackson, they will face off against James Monroe at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
