Baseball Preview: Cholla Chargers vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions
The Cholla Chargers will head out on the road to challenge the Mountain View Mountain Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Cholla is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
On Wednesday, Cholla sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Tanque Verde. The win was just what Cholla needed coming off of a 7-0 defeat in their prior matchup.
Sebastian Silvain was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Silvain was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Michael Corales was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Carlos Alvarez, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Mountain View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Sabino by a score of 10-8.
Jayden Lynch made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Kintner, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Cholla's record is now 5-9. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11-2.
