Basketball Game Preview: Nease Panthers vs. Providence School Stallions

Nease hasn't had much luck against Providence School recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Nease Panthers will be playing at home against the Providence School Stallions at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nease is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Gateway 63-42 last Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Nease has posted since January 19th.

It was another big night for Langston Hackworth, who posted 15 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Phifer, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Providence School entered their tilt with Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They snuck past the Royals with a 49-45 win. Given the Stallions' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 75th in Florida, while the Royals are ranked 365th in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Providence School's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Nease, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season.
