Softball Game Preview: Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs vs. Nevada Cubs

Prairie City-Monroe has gone 8-2 against Nevada recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Cubs at 5:30 p.m. Prairie City-Monroe's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Nevada's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Prairie City-Monroe blew Grand View Christian out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Grand View Christian got their revenge. The Mustangs fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 5-3.

Meanwhile, Nevada had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 7-1 win. While the Cubs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Prairie City-Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Nevada, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything went Prairie City-Monroe's way against Nevada in their previous matchup back in June of 2025, as Prairie City-Monroe made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
