Basketball Recap: Phelps Skates Past June Buchanan with Ease

Phelps had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They blew past the June Buchanan Crusaders, posting a 73-33 win. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 33 points or more this season.

Phelps was led to victory by Caleigh McCoy and Kylea Weddington. McCoy went 12 for 20 on her way to 24 points and five rebounds, while Weddington dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. The matchup was McCoy's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Bailey Norman was another key player, putting up eight points.

Phelps' victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for June Buchanan, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Phelps will be playing in front of their home fans against Twin Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Phelps' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for June Buchanan, they will venture away from home to challenge Buckhorn at 7:15 p.m. on December 17th.
