Baseball Game Preview: Cleveland Rams vs. Garner Trojans

The Cleveland Rams will head out to challenge the Garner Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cleveland is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Cleveland's tournament run continued when they took on Wake County HomeSchool on Tuesday. The Rams walked away with a 10-7 win over the Warriors. Cleveland's victory was all the more impressive since the Warriors were averaging only 3.96 runs allowed on the season.

Caleb Lynn made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Lynn was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs. He has become a key player for Cleveland: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden McArthur, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Aubrey Stanley was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Cleveland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Garner was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of Willow Spring by a score of 3-1. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cleveland's record now sits at 12-7. As for Garner, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Cleveland couldn't quite get it done against Garner when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-7. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
