Softball Recap: Copper Hills Grizzlies vs. Herriman Mustangs        
        
		
            
 Copper Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They fell  11-7 to the Herriman Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Copper Hills of the  14-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in March.
  Anslie Yazzie was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 3-for-3 with two  triples, two  runs,  and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Averi Yazzie, who  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, a  triple,  and  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, Copper Hills was hitting in the corners and  finished the game with three  triples. That's the most  triples they've managed all season.
 On Herriman's side,  Sofia Lancaster made a big impact no matter where she played. She  pitched three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Lancaster has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than one  hit in three consecutive pitching appearances. Lancaster was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Sammy Nelson was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with four  RBI and a  double.  Tanzie Smith was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-4.
 Copper Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Herriman, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Copper Hills will  take on Bingham at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Bingham's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7  runs per game  this season, so Copper Hills' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Herriman, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Mountain Ridge at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Herriman knows how to get  runs on the board -- the  team has finished with flashy  run totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Mountain Ridge likes a good challenge.
