Softball Game Preview: Fort Knox Eagles vs. Central Yellow Jackets

The Fort Knox Eagles will challenge the Central Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Fort Knox: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Central has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Metcalfe County hit Fort Knox with a six-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles lost 10-1 to the Hornets.

Meanwhile, Central made easy work of Waggener on Wednesday and carried off a 19-6 win. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won four matches by more than 12 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.8 runs over those games. As for Fort Knox, their loss dropped their record down to 3-20.

Fort Knox might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
