The Fremont Eagles will square off against the Manchester Squires at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Fremont made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Eastside, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Blazers by a score of 12-10 on Thursday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Blazers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Lexi Stevens was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Chloe Verdin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Manchester, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Wawasee on Friday by a score of 13-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Squires might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.
Molly Schannep spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Manchester got a massive performance out of Hadley West, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs West has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsyn Kamphues, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Manchester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Manchester pushed their record up to 4-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fremont hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Manchester struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
