St. John's Christian Academy and Orangeburg Prep are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2022, but likely not for long. The Cavaliers will face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. John's Christian Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
If St. John's Christian Academy beats Orangeburg Prep with six runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Cavaliers didn't even let Dorchester Academy on the board on Friday, marking the Cavaliers' second-straight 6-0 shutout.

Sumter Moorer was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because St. John's Christian Academy is 6-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise. Moorer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Chipman, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Lucas Morrison also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Orangeburg Prep made easy work of Calhoun Academy on Thursday and carried off an 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Charlie McCutchen was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
St. John's Christian Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Orangeburg Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. John's Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Orangeburg Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. John's Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Orangeburg Prep when the teams last played back in March, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
