Basketball Recap: St. Joseph's Catholic Takes a Loss

After flying high against Carolina Academy on Friday, St. Joseph's Catholic came back down to earth. The St. Joseph's Catholic Knights lost 71-48 to the Arborbrook Christian Academy Falcons on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since November 21, 2023.

When it comes to explaining why St. Joseph's Catholic lost, don't look at Tiffany Helmer. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Helmer has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Eliza Carter, who scored eight points.

Even though they lost, St. Joseph's Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

St. Joseph's Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Arborbrook Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

St. Joseph's Catholic and Arborbrook Christian Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. St. Joseph's Catholic (ranked 102nd) will meet Palmetto (ranked 208th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph's Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. Similarly, Arborbrook Christian Academy will square off against Lee Park Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 119 places (102 vs. 221).
