North Tahoe had won five straight games and Marlo Johnson did her part to make it six on Saturday. The Lakers came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Battle Mountain Longhorns for which the team can thank Johnson, who had 31 digs and one assist. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game.

North Tahoe took Battle Mountain into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-8, 17-25, 27-29, 19-17.

North Tahoe was led to victory by Ximena Trinidad Castellano and Mishel Suarez. Trinidad Castellano had 17 digs, while Suarez had eight digs.

North Tahoe was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive matches.

Battle Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Alexis Rangel, who had 22 digs. Andrea Alcaraz-Lopez was another key player, getting 29 digs and two assists.

North Tahoe's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Battle Mountain, the loss snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 16-9 record.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, North Tahoe and Sierra Lutheran will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Battle Mountain, they will venture away from home to face off against Oasis Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
