Baseball Recap: Millennium Beats Sunnyslope for Their Third Straight Victory

Millennium extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 19-8 in the process. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sunnyslope Vikings a 3-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-5 on Thursday.

The result came thanks to David Sheppard's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Josue Malave was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

As for Sunnyslope, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

On Sunnyslope's side, Bryan Mares spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

Looking ahead, Millennium will face off against Westwood at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Sunnyslope, they will square off against Brophy College Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
