Basketball Game Preview: Lake Wales Highlanders vs. Sebring Blue Streaks

Having just played yesterday, the Lake Wales Highlanders will head out on the road to face off against the Sebring Blue Streaks at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Wales is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.

On Thursday, Lake Wales came up short against Lakeland and fell 61-51. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Dreadnaughts recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite their loss, Lake Wales saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sebastian Perez, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Perez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Jorge Ramirez was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Sebring played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Davenport 79-49. The Blue Streaks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Like Lake Wales, Sebring lost despite seeing results from several players. Jayshawn Evans led the charge by going 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Mitchell, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Sebring smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Lake Wales now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Sebring, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Lake Wales skirted past Sebring 58-56 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Sebring's David Allen, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 25 points along with six assists and six boards.
