Basketball Game Preview: East Gaston Warriors vs. Shelby Golden Lions

East Gaston hasn't had much luck against Shelby recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The East Gaston Warriors will take on the Shelby Golden Lions at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, East Gaston came up short against Bessemer City and fell 76-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Shelby had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 72-53 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

Shelby's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for East Gaston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-17.

East Gaston ended up a good deal behind Shelby in their previous meeting back in January, losing 72-53. Can East Gaston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
