Basketball Game Preview: Belleview Christian Bruins vs. Lyons Lions

The Belleview Christian Bruins are taking a road trip to challenge the Lyons Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Belleview Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 37-31 to SkyView Academy. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Harjas Thiara, who posted 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tara Polson, who scored ten points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Meanwhile, Lyons blew past Dawson School, posting a 45-16 win. That looming 45-16 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Lions yet this season.

Lyons has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Belleview Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Belleview Christian ended up a good deal behind Lyons in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, losing 39-20. Thankfully for Belleview Christian, Gemma Powell (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
