The Berthoud Spartans will head out to square off against the Colorado Academy Mustangs at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games Berthoud has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Berthoud's offense. They fell just short of Denver South by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.
Elisha Mosher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Berthoud saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Lettieri, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Mustangs on Monday. Colorado Academy never let Dawson School get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. Considering Colorado Academy has won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Charlie Rakowski made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rakowski was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Colorado Academy got a massive performance out of Liam Driver, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Driver has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jordan Reiter, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Colorado Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Colorado Academy's record is now 18-4. As for Berthoud, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.
