Football Game Preview: Wesclin Warriors vs. Chester Yellowjackets

Wesclin is 0-4 against Chester since September of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Warriors will head out to face off against the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m.

Wesclin is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 41 points two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Dupo on Friday. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since August 30, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Despite their defeat, Wesclin saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. William Waggoner, who rushed for 120 yards, was perhaps the best of all.

Meanwhile, Chester never let their opponents score on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 27-0 victory over Sparta/Steeleville. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Yellowjackets had established a 21-point advantage.

Chester's win came from a few key players Wesclin will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trayton Peters, who threw for 151 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 40 yards. 103 of Peters' passing yards were hauled in by Tashawn Palacio, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Chester was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Chester's record now sits at 3-1. As for Wesclin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Wesclin suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Chester when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
