Yulee comes up short despite Ace Walker's dominant performance

If the Yulee Hornets were riding high off their 68-40 takedown of the Baldwin Indians last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Yulee had to suffer through a rough 81-50 loss at the hands of Hilliard. Yulee has struggled against Hilliard recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Yulee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ace Walker. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with two steals. Walker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Spencer, who scored 11 points.

Hilliard's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandyn Seldomridge, who scored 28 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Seldomridge has scored all season. Kevin Thomas was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Yulee has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Hilliard, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Yulee won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fernandina Beach at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Hilliard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort White at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Fort White is ranked 125th, while Hilliard is ranked 142nd).
