Softball Recap: Birmingham Has No Trouble Against El Camino Real

Birmingham won the last time they faced El Camino Real and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Patriots blew past the Royals 8-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Annabella Venegas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Bella Gonzalez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Jasmine Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Birmingham's record is now 6-8. As for El Camino Real, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Birmingham is set to square off against their familiar foe Taft at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, El Camino Real will challenge rival Chatsworth at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
