Soccer Recap: Atascadero Triumphs

Atascadero lost to Santa Ynez back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Atascadero Greyhounds sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Santa Ynez Pirates. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Greyhounds were the better team in the second half.

Colton Russell and Dean Bryson scored both of Atascadero's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Atascadero's win bumped their record up to 12-8-3. As for Santa Ynez, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11-3.

Atascadero will be playing in front of their home fans against Lompoc at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. Lompoc's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Santa Ynez, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against St. Joseph on the 31st.
