Basketball Recap: Preston Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Preston's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 67-54 win over the Liberty Mountaineers. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 57-43 victory the Mountaineers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Preston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaden Bachtel, who went 8 for 10 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. Bachtel continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Aidan Schmidl was another key player, going 7 of 13 on his way to 19 points and three steals.

Preston's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-5. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Preston will take on Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty, they will head out to square off against East Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty is facing East Fairmont at the right time seeing as East Fairmont is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
