Basketball Recap: Wake Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Wake Christian Academy was the 69-60 winner over Trinity Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs had to suffer through a 91-45 loss at the hands of the Trinity Academy Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Tigers are ranked 92nd).

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Preston Avery, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points. Will Curry also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Wake Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Trinity Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Trinity Academy beat Wake Christian Academy by a score of 79-49 on Thursday.
