Baseball Game Preview: Doherty Memorial Highlanders vs. South Colonels

Doherty Memorial is a perfect 10-0 against South since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Highlanders will host the Colonels at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Doherty Memorial's offense. They lost 12-0 to Shrewsbury on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Highlanders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Doherty Memorial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Kursonis, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, South was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They came up short against Bartlett, falling 8-2. The contest marked the Colonels' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

South's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Doherty Memorial, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Doherty Memorial beat South 9-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Colonels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
