Recap: De Beque Dragons vs. Rangely Panthers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plateau Valley, the De Beque Dragons were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 63-42 margin over Rangely. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-15.

De Beque's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Scottie Vines led the charge by dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vines has scored all season. Burke Largent was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.

Rangely's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clay Allred, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Allred is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kacey Allred, who scored five points along with three steals.

De Beque has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Rangely, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

De Beque will stay at home for another game and welcome Ridgway at 6:30 p.m. on February 8th. De Beque is facing Ridgway at the right time seeing as Ridgway is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Rangely, they will head out on the road to face off against Vail Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Vail Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
