Basketball Recap: Saint Mary's Hall Takes a Loss

Saint Mary's Hall and Second Baptist squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Saint Mary's Hall had to settle for second. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Second Baptist Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Barons of the 54-50 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Second Baptist found their leader in sophomore Eloise Tackett, who went 5-for-12 en route to 21 points along with eight boards and six steals. What's more, Tackett also posted a 56% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in November of 2024. Grace Wehring was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Saint Mary's Hall's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Second Baptist, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a massive bump to their 17-10 record this season.

Saint Mary's Hall does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Second Baptist, they will square off against Legacy Prep Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Legacy Prep Christian Academy comes in on nine and Second Baptist on ten.
