Recap: Heritage Coyotes vs. Emerson Mavericks

The Heritage Coyotes were the 83-82 winner over the Emerson Mavericks when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Heritage took a 83-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of Emerson on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (64), Heritage still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Cameron Lomax, who scored 30 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 41.7% of Heritage's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Obi Udom, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

It was another big night for Keonte Greybear, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds for Emerson. Greybear continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Black, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Emerson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-11.

Heritage will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Liberty at 7:15 p.m. Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 games -- so hopefully Liberty likes a good challenge. As for Emerson, they will head out on the road to challenge Walnut Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Emerson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
