Basketball Recap: Chrisman Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Chrisman had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] Titans, falling 77-55. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Chrisman's loss came despite strong showings from Gavin McCord and Statler Mitchell. McCord went 6-for-14 on his way to 21 points, while Mitchell shot 42% from the field en route to 13 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was McCord's third in a row with at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Nate Bones, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] was led to victory by Chase Rhode and Preston Bancroft. Rhode went 14-for-28 to rack up 35 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists, while Bancroft shot 69% from the field en route to 27 points and eight boards. Those 27 points gave Bancroft a new career-high.

Chrisman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-42 loss against Villa Grove on the 25th. As for Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland], they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-46 defeat against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine on the 25th.
