 The Forge Christian Fury and the St. Mary's Pirates squared off in some playoff action  on Friday, but sadly the Forge Christian Fury had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Pirates on the road  and fell  59-28. While losing is never fun, Forge Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings  (they are ranked 228th, while St. Mary's is ranked 76th).
 Despite the  defeat, Forge Christian had strong showings from  Gabriella Geypens, who  scored 18 points along with five  rebounds and four  steals, and  Finley Queen, who  scored six points along with eight  rebounds and two  steals. Geypens hasn't dropped below two  steals for six straight games.
 St. Mary's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Maeve Salveson, who  scored 17 points along with five  steals. Salveson hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was  Jaela Pedro, who  scored 19 points along with two  blocks.
 Forge Christian has  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost six of their last seven contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record  this season. As for St. Mary's, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won nine of their last ten games,  which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record  this season.
 Forge Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Mary's, they won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Ignacio at 5:00  p.m.  on March 2nd. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week  since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
