Basketball Game Preview: Northeast Guilford Rams vs. Rockingham County Cougars

Northeast Guilford is 2-8 against Rockingham County since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Northeast Guilford Rams will look to defend their home court against the Rockingham County Cougars at 6:30 p.m.

Northeast Guilford is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They fell 48-39 to Atkins. While the Rams didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Camels 12-8 in the first quarter.

The losing side was boosted by Kiyah Sherman, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Sasha Brower, who posted four points and 14 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Northeast Guilford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Rockingham County entered their tilt with Dudley on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took down the Panthers 56-37.

Rockingham County's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points over those games. As for Northeast Guilford, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Things could have been worse for Northeast Guilford, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-48 loss to Rockingham County in their previous matchup last Wednesday.
