Softball Game Preview: Woodlands Academy Wildcats vs. Francis W. Parker Colonels

The Woodlands Academy Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Francis W. Parker Colonels at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Woodlands Academy has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Woodlands Academy will head out to face Francis W. Parker after giving up their first home loss of the season on Thursday. The Wildcats lost 15-0 to Regina Dominican. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Francis W. Parker). They were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over Rickover Naval on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Colonels as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Francis W. Parker got a massive performance out of Birdie Goldblatt, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Sloane Demetriou, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Francis W. Parker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Woodlands Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Francis W. Parker, their record is now 3-7.

Woodlands Academy beat Francis W. Parker 10-7 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
