Soccer Game Preview: East Wilkes vs. Mount Airy

East Wilkes is 1-9 against Mount Airy since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Granite Bears at 5:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

East Wilkes had taken Starmount down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Rams by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Mount Airy has been on a difficult stretch since their win on March 20. They and Alleghany finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for Mount Airy as it spelled an end to their 11-game losing streak.

East Wilkes' loss dropped their record down to 7-11. Mount Airy's draw gives them a new season record of 1-12-2.

East Wilkes took their win against Mount Airy in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 8-1 score. In that game, the Cardinals amassed a halftime lead of 4-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
