Bagdad put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Valley Lutheran Flames with a sharp 13-0 win. The Sultans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Rowdy Hooper was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hooper was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Bagdad let Destry Owings and Dj Gramanz run wild. Owings scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Gramanz scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. Owings has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Langston, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.

Bagdad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Bagdad's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Bagdad will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Superior at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Superior will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Bagdad surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valley Lutheran, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Salome at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Lutheran is facing Salome at the right time seeing as Salome is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
